The Missing Sandwich - Found?

Kottu is probably the biggerst Sri Lankan Blogroll. The other day i was with my work friend at her place. She lives with this guy called Jehan who always has a woman in his room and another mysterious girl who i've never met. So there we were drinking and talking about everything from fuck buddies to Maggi (which was the purpose of the meeting). Then her phone rings and there is this girl outside who joined us. She had with her a lot of interesting books such as LOTR that i liked. After pouring a drink and lighting a cigarette the conversation continued. I was blogging at the moment and then she looked and said "Do you blog?". I replied with a lousy "yeah".

My reaction was; Wow this is a small kottu.

No Strings Attatched

While watching VH1 the other day i realized that there are many bands whose guitarist or drummer or someone of the other is the main attraction of the band and not the lead singer itself or whoever leads the band. These musicians i find out stand out on their own.

The following are :

Slash - Lead Guitarist from popular rock band "Guns N Roses".
I don't normally focus on Axel Rose when hes on stage, fine hes screaming and singing and rolling around with his hair but theres something about Slash that makes the crowd just follow him around stage. With a unique style of the crazy hair and the top hat plus the full black clothing made him one smooth cat. In the video for November Rain he really steals the show when he walks out of the church and starts playing the guitar solo but thats not as good as his solo on top of the piano. He left Guns N Roses to form Velvet Revolver which he is also the lead guitarist. There is something mysterious about him that makes him stand on his own level of "cool"




Wes Borland - Lead Guitarist of Limp Bizkit a rap metal band that is currently disband. Wes like Slash has his own style. On stage he wears large amounts of face make up and black contact lenses along with full black clothing, leather preferably. His crazy moves on stage are quite the eye catcher not to mention his costume. His guitar talents are not as good as slash but its not really need in the band genre of music. He left Limp Bizkit to join another band.





Travis Barker - Drummer of Blink 182. People know this band after he joined. His Mohawk and tendency to drum bare bodied with his totally tattooed body showing really caught a few looks. His name is googled and you-tubed more than the other band members. He was playing the drums since he was 4 and that was all he wanted to do. He started playing for the school band squad and was kinda a band geek. When he finally did join a band called the 'Aquabats'. While on tour with the original blink182 he was asked to fill in for their just fired drummer. He had to learn 20 sets in 2 hours which he did. Then he joined Blink182 and has been with them till they broke up. The break up was caused apparently by Tom calling him a session drummer. Now he produces, writes songs, drums and is on celebrity TV. He also owns LaSalle Records, Famous Stars and Stripes and Wahoo's Fish Taco Restaurant.

These 3 are some well acclaimed musicians who've gotten quite far on their own and even if they haven't they stood out in their band. Any more musicians? Tell me!

Immortality

What the - ?

I realized that normal words are now taken into the category of slang. So many words now have double meanings when used as verbs. I came across this when watching 'Chris Browns Super Sweet 18th Birthday!" One of the girls on it said "Wow this party is so dope!" my mother who was passing by thought that the people at the party were doing dope and if they're doing dope it appears that im doing dope and so it took alot of explaining to calm my mother down.

Dope is a word used for marijuana which came from the 'dopey' feeling one gets after inhaling it. But since weed gives such a good feeling people have decided to apply it to everyday life and compare normal clean things to such a feeling (mentioned above) the girl who said the party was dope definitely looked like she'd had it.
Common examples : This party is dope; That car is dope; You look so dope; This dope is dope

Sick is another word i will never understand. Made popular probably by punk rockers and emo weirdos. This is definitely backwards because 'sick' is a negative feeling where one feels 'sick' or unhealthy. But nope people still use it to compliment and so take it.
Common examples : That ride is sick; That trick was sick; That guy is sick (well duh since he did puke all day and is in bed)

Sexy - The only word that makes sense but at times can be used wrongly. Sexy is used to describe beauty, women, and anything related to making that part in your brain go ting! When a person sees a nice pair of shoes he/she could say "hey that would look sexy on me" or if they say "wow you look sexy" those are acceptable examples, but quotes like "This burger was the sexiest thing ive eaten" that is just downright wrong. How can dead cow and cheese be "sexy?"
Common examples : You look sexy; that car is sexy; That sex was sexy.

Words nowadays are evolving. What was good is bad and what is bad is good. If someone calls you unhealthy embrace it thats probably the best compliment your gonna get. I fear for the future generation as always. They're gonna have one sick life. As in sick sick.

Happy?

I was tagged by St Fallen to type 10 things that makes me happy. well here goes in no particular orde

1. Good Music : Anything that im in the mood for. It'll make me happy and it will uplift whatever mood i have on me

2. Good Food : Good Food is appreciated anytime. Always makes me happy and also fills my stomach

3. Going out with Friends : I always like going with the right crowd somewhere where it is to eat or club with the right set of friends the night will be legendary.

4. Taking a good picture. Im very serious about my photography and it really makes me happy when i take a good picture that others appreciate

5. Gaming : Any game if im good at it or bad i enjoy it and it makes me happier if i win :)

6. Wikipedia : hmm something so popular its not on the dictionary. but i like to read up on anything from historic figures, to bands, to comic book characters

7. Writing : When ever i get the impulse to write i write and the end result always makes me happy

8. Talking : A good conversation with an interesting person is always welcome. If you bore me then ur not making me happy

9. Travelling : i love going to new places and witnessing culture

10. Being alone at the right time : Im able to release my thoughts and realize interesting facts. I think and i sort of "shuffle" through my memories and i find things ive forgotten or like to remember.
